The predecessor of Tangdu Hospital was Yan'an Central Hospital founded in 1939. In 1955, it was transferred to the Teaching Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University. In 1958, it was approved by the General Staff as the Second Affiliated Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University. In 1985, it was called Tangdu Hospital with the approval of the General Staff. In 2017, it was transferred to the Air Force with the school and renamed as Air Force Military Doctor. The Second Affiliated Hospital of the University is a modern Class-A hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care, and rehabilitation. There are many national key disciplines, national key cultivation disciplines, innovation teams of the Ministry of Education, the Military Medical Research Institute, the Military Medical Specialty (Special Disease) Center, the Military Medical Key Laboratory, and the key and advantageous disciplines of Shaanxi Province. All disciplines are authorized disciplines for doctoral and master's degree. It has a well-structured backbone talent team with three-level or higher professors, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding national contributions, 973 chief scientists, distinguished professors of the Yangtze River Scholars Award Program, and chairmen of the state, military and provincial societies. With advanced inspection equipment and a humanized diagnosis and treatment system, it has formed a leading characteristic medical technology in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. He has successively won a number of major scientific research awards represented by the first prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and the second prize of National Technology Invention Award. The teaching facilities are complete and advanced, and each year it undertakes multi-level and multi-track undergraduate, master and doctoral teaching and training tasks for advanced students and regular training students. It has successfully completed major medical treatment tasks such as the fight against SARS, earthquake relief, and Africa and Egypt.
